So it's so funny that I wrote about our van on Friday.  Our wonderful family van decided it was time for a rest and it broke down when Josh was on his way home Friday evening.  We have spent the weekend fixing the situation and car shopping.  Thank goodness Josh knows exactly what is wrong with it and he is out in the driveway working on it right now.  He's awesome!

The Big Latch On was a success!  A nice group of women gathered at my house Saturday morning and we nursed our babies until their hearts were content.  I was proud to have a sign hanging in front of my house saying "stop here for The Big Latch On"!  (In fact it's still out there!  I am notorious for throwing parties and cleaning up a week later!)

During the Latch On a police officer whipped in my drive way!  I was immediately nervous.  Why is it that in the presence of a police officer even when we have done nothing wrong, we get nervous?  The last time a police officer came to our house was because our friendly (insert sarcasm) neighbor called the police when Josh took the kids baha-ing (is that a word) in his 1990 Chevy Suburban in our backyard/field and he got stuck in a huge ditch that wasn't there before!

The Suburban.  We ended up selling it but there isn't a day that goes by that we don't miss that memory maker...tear.

Anyway, back to the latch on story... I walked to his cruiser and greeted him.  He explained that he was a new officer in our town and he was just trying to get to know people.  He said "I see you are having a party and didn't invite me!" with a smirk.  I proceeded to tell him that I was hosting an event for the La Leche League and we would be latching our babies on soon.  He couldn't speak.  He turned a shade of pink and finally managed to say "Wow, way to make a man blush".  He put his car in reverse and said "Have a good day"!  Cracks me up that people react this way.  This is the whole point of the latch on-to normalize breastfeeding.  Unfortunately, America has a long way to go!

This is me nursing Joshua at the Big Latch On.  Does this make you uncomfortable?  It's ok-I will keep posting pictures until your comfortable with it;)

You see, my son has lots of medical issues.  His body doesn't function like a typical 3 year olds body.  Because of my understanding of the health benefits that breastfeeding has on children-not just babies-but children of all ages I am continuing to nurse him.  I am proud to have a giant nursing baby!

Okay-gotta go.  Josh is wearing swim trunks-not because he is going swimming but because that was his only pair of clean shorts.  Off to do a mind numbing-using no brain cells-chore called laundry.

Enjoy Sunday with your family and give all your thanks to Him!
